Bayside FC is the premier youth soccer club in Rhode Island. Our teams play in some of the best leagues in the country including MLS Next Homegrown and Academy Division, Girls Academy, Northeast Academy League, and the NECSL. Bayside is the only club in Rhode Island with MLS Next Homegrown Tier 1 as well as Tier 1 Northeast Academy League.

Many of our players go on to play soccer in college with some even reaching the professional ranks including former US Men’s National Team Player, Michael Parkhurst, and most recently Damian Rivera of the New England Revolution.

Bayside FC has teams from the u7 – u19 age groups for boys and girls. Our teams play in some of the top leagues in the region – NECSL, NEAL, GA, and MLS Next. Many of our players earn scholarships to colleges across the country and some move on to play in the professional ranks.

The Bayside FC season runs similar to the school year – from late August to the following June. Tryouts for each upcoming year take place in May for all age groups. If you are looking to join the club or tryout mid-year, please fill out the interest form below and we will get back to you shortly to find an opportunity to evaluate the player.

2026/2027 New Seasonal Age Groups

The 2026/27 season will see a change in the age group format throughout much of the US, where teams will be formed based on the Seasonal Age Group format as opposed to the Birth Year format like in recent years.

The change to the Seasonal Age Group format will take effect in the summer of 2026 for the following programs: MLS Next Academy Division, Girls Academy League & NECSL.

MLS Next Homegrown Division & Northeast Academy League will continue to operate with the Birth Year format.

FAQs

Can a player who falls into one age group, play up a year?

Yes. One example is a player who currently plays on a U11 team (2015 birth year) may be eligible to play U11 again this fall but the Team Coach may want the player to play within the U12 age group. This will be at the discretion of the Team Coach and Director and if you have questions you should follow up with your Team Coach.

Will my current team be affected?

It is very likely that your current team will be affected given the nature of the changes. This is something your Team Coach and Director will communicate to you in the coming weeks & months. If you have any concerns, your Team Coach would be your first point of contact to ensure all families have all the information they require ahead of the changes.

Why was this decision made?

There are many factors that went into the decision made by US Soccer to switch to the seasonal age group format including addressing the ‘trapped 8th grade player’ issue. Click on the link to read about the decision process https://usclubsoccer.org/age-group-cut-off-update-for-2026-27-season/
